Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is a Mexican American sportscaster. Her current role is working as a sportscaster at ESPN, working as an anchor of SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in 2016. Her mother is TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual since the age of nine years old, a valuable talent that enabled her to get her first job working as an assistant to the producer with Univision in Miami that allowed her to be a part of the production team for National programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then she was promoted to reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate following that. In 2009, she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Her stories covered immigration as well as drug trafficking and various other topics on the Texas and Mexico border. She was also a Spanish reporter at the newscast of 5 p.m. and anchor and reporter for the newscast from nine p.m. in English and again also a Spanish reporter at 10 p.m. Her duties as an anchor on sports and weather was also frequently demanded. Later, she was anchor and reporter on Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. The station then gave her greater responsibilities. She reported on events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. The Univision 23 channel also produced her local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she served as anchor. She was the sports anchor of Despierta America Deportes morning show. It was the same role as a sports anchor for Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo on UniMas Network. Antonietta Collin's parents originally hail from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved into Mexico City where she was born on 22 November 1985. She has an elder sister. In 1992, the family moved to Miami after relocating to Mexico in the US. In the course of a few months, her father split from her mother. She later remarried in the year 1995 to a naval architect called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away of kidney carcinoma in the year 2006. While on a trip with the family in Ohio, younger Collins took a place with her older sister. Antonietta was about to graduate from high school but already knew her plans for what she would do. It turned out that she was a fan of the campus as well as the fact that it provided the degree she was looking for. Her studies were completed and she was accepted into the University with a degree of media studies. Her professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was a student in her class, formed a lasting relationship with her. His passion for journalism and confidence in her own abilities instilled confidence in her. She, in turn was determined to achieve his standards and not disappoint him.
